Daily Life
and Energy Project
Project Launch
Started in 1998 to provide information that would enable consumers to think for themselves about energy, make appropriate choices, and use it effectively.
WEN’s Response:(1998~2007)
- ●To confirm how we use energy, the project members measured their electricity consumption in their homes for two weeks in the fall, winter, and summer.*)
- ●55 presentations and lectures were held for the general public.
*)The activity was recognized as an outstanding example by the Energy Conservation Center, Japan in 1998, and received the Kanto Bureau of Trade and Industry Director‘s Award in 2000
Post-Fukushima Effort (2013~)
- ●After the accident, Japan‘s energy situation changed drastically, and the general public’s interest in energy -saving increased. We felt once again that there is a strong demand for providing information necessary for citizens to appropriately choose their own energy sources, and We resumed project activities.
- ●In Japan, the electricity retail market has been fully liberalized since 2016, enabling consumers to select their electric power company freely. In response, we held a forum “What does it mean to choose a power company by ourselves?” in 2015.
Latest Outreach(2023~)
- ●Energy-saving tips implemented by members are published on the WEN website.
