About WEN
Women’s Energy Network (WEN) was established in March 1993. Since then, throughout the various changes in the environment surrounding energy issues, we at WEN have continued to serve actively as a “pipeline” between energy experts and the general public.
Our lives have undergone rapid changes with the times. Japan is a resource-poor country. How has Japan developed so far despite this? It has developed by utilizing a large amount of energy resources. However, now that the issue of global warming is being recognized worldwide, Japan declared its goal of becoming carbon-neutral in October 2020 and set its sights on achieving net zero by 2050. This is a challenge that cannot be achieved unless all citizens possess correct knowledge about energy, think about it, and take action.WEN is a gathering of women from diverse backgrounds, including working women, retired women, women raising children, women providing care, women working in energy-related companies, engineers, researchers, consumer life advisors, entrepreneurs, teachers, homemakers, environmental advisors, and more. WEN members collect and organize information to solve their own questions, and actively engage in discussions with many people. We aim to find solutions to problems together.
Carbon Neutral
Reducing the emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases to zero is a challenging goal. Carbon neutrality means that the unavoidable emissions are offset by absorbing or removing an equivalent amount, thus achieving a net zero balance.
